Her Place Exhibition - Eureka Centre in Ballarat

Currently The Ballarat Eureka Centre is hosting a wonderful free exhibition showcasing the lives of notable Victorian women through biographical accounts of their lives. The woman showcased in this exhibition are Aunty Fay Carter, Ruth Crow (AM), Deruka Dekuek, Kerry Greenwood, Sandy Jeffs, The Hon Joan Kuirner (AC), Halima Mohamed, Alice Pung, Peta Searle and Gweneth Wisewould.

The exhibition is called HerPlace and presents 10 video stories of notable Victorian women some of who have been included onto the Victorian Honour Roll for Women. Along with the wonderfully presented video stories told by the women themselves except in the case of those women who have died, the exhibition also includes display cabinets that are arranged around the exhibition space where wonderful artefacts, personal accounts, letters, books and other items are presented that characterise the lives and contributions of the women and celebrate their achievements.

The Her Place exhibition is indeed a wonderful and inspiring exhibition of notable Victorian Women from all walks of life and well worth the trip to Ballarat.
