About this project:
It is a well known fact that Australia has one of the most gender segregated labour forces in OECD countries. Furthermore, this imbalance is mirrored in and so perpetuated through VET training statistics. At times of national skills shortages, the under-representation of women in ‘non-traditional’ industries re-emerges as highly problematic. This project seeks to enhance the inclusion of women and girls in the current skills shortage strategies of two industries: transport/logistics and construction. These masculinised industry areas are highly paid and provide stable permanent employment opportunities. |

Broad Land Small World |
From mid 2007 to mid 2008, as part of the Office for Women: 2006-2007 Women’s Leadership and Development Programme Capacity Building Grants, WAVE undertook a communications capacity building project: ‘Broad Land Small World’. The project sought to find more efficient, effective and financially viable communication channels for the Executive Committee and WAVE members. The project also provided training to improve and manage the WAVE website. The findings will be passed on to and utilised by other women’s groups in the future.
